Tava's Annual Evening of Bellydance returns for a night of inspired movement. This theme is all about 'Keeping it Real' Sometimes, as dancers, we just want to move in a way that feels pleasing, represents a culture or favors what the song calls for without the pressure of adding sparkly elements for entertainment value.
It's these performances, usually done in our living rooms alone or with family/close friends, that can feel the most satisfying. Of course we draw from these concepts in every show, but this event is what happens when we stop "gigging" and keep it real.
This year's lineup is pure heart & soul:
Danielle Hutton (NYC)
Kirah - Intrinsic Bellydance (Long Island)
Nahara (NY)
Stephanie Vartanian (CT/NY)
Tava (CT/NY)
group and solo performances by Manipura Dance Collective members: Aleathea, Debra, Dongmei and Tava
+ a few surprises!
Ticket link coming soon. Doors open 6:30 (Please respect the performers private access to the space until doors open for rehearsing and set-up).
We hope to see you there at our favorite spot- Factory Underground in Norwalk, CT.

Every Slow Turn Tells a Story with Diana Saylor
Hosted by The Dance Space and John W. Higgins Armory
The Dance Space
100 Barber Avenue
Worcester, MA 01606
Every Slow Turn Tells a Story
aka Finish Your Moves
aka Finish Your Moves More
aka Finish Your Moves More and Also Please Start Them
Join Diana of Elm City Shimmy for a 2 hour workshop on beautiful arms.
Story telling is one of the first forms of improvisation that most of us practice, and like group improv belly dance, it thrives within a structure. A good story has a beginning, a middle, and an end. If you skip one element, your audience is left wanting.
The same theory applies to your ATS® slow turns! The beginnings and the finishes are as important as the turny parts. In this workshop, we will break down the segments of select slow turns in order to enhance your communication skills and create a more cohesive piece for your audience.
Please bring your zills and be familiar with:
body wave
hand floreos
taxeem
Experience with the following turns is ideal but not required:
reverse turn
wrap-around turn
corkscrew turn
propeller turn
barrel turn
loco camel
Medusa turn (ATS® version)
pulse turn
