Across the Floor with Tessa
We all can imagine the quintessential Belly Dancer in a low light night club draped in silk and captivatingly dancing on a dime. But what about when you have a whole big beautiful stage to fill? Work with Tessa as she teaches you fun foot patterns, undulating traveling combinations and the sassiest strut that take you sweeping across the stage.

West African Dance with Shelby

Shelby Jones Collett has been dancing her entire life. She’s studied many forms of dance as a young girl, but truly fell in love with the art of West African dance in 1998 in Montana! Since then, she has been living in Vermont where she’s studied with Sidiki Sylla and Seny Daffe of Burlington’s West African Dance troupe, Jeh Kulu. She owns her own dance and gymnastic school in Rutland, Vermont where she enjoys teaching all ages in gymnastics as well as Tribal Bellydance.

This workshop will be a journey of joy and storytelling as the style of West Africa Dance emotes all. Basic steps and isolations will be introduced, then a traditional dance from Guinea will be taught, danced and celebrated. Class will end with a circle of inclusion, honoring our connections to our drummer, ourselves and each other.

Fantastic Fans with Ameena :TBA

Dance the Heartbeat of Light and Shadow with Tempest

This workshop focuses on a balance between "light" and "dark" concepts - particularly sacred vs. daily movement, invigorating vs. calming - rooted in Arabic/folkloric dances from North Africa (Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, etc) and the Mediterranean. In this workshop, you will not only deepen your understanding of the folkloric dances we will explore - especially their key movements and music, but you will also take home with you practices and exercises that will energize and renew your dance! Suitable for all levels and styles of dancers. Please bring a 3 yard rectangular veil and water.

Tempest pulls from her visual arts background, literary tendencies, and global inspirations to create dance that crosses the boundaries of time and culture. Her compellingly artful performances exemplify her distinctively theatrical, unique, and expressive style that are rooted in oriental dance technique with a transcendent approach. Tempest's fascination with sacred and ritual dance lead her to bellydance over 20 years ago, and the exploration of Myth is an important and recurring theme in her work.

About this intensive:
A unique, versatile approach to the bellydance intensive, a week-long designed for experienced dancers, who are looking for inspiration from an artistic standpoint and who are interested in honing their ability to express through dance on stage. This intimate group exploration will stretch your notions of how dance can be striking on stage, and allow you to unlock new areas of creativity in your bodies and your mind. The seminar brings together many of the styles and forms from dance to theater which Mira has carefully integrated into an exciting, powerful, liberating approach to creation, including: personal expression, musicality, historical and contemporary contextual analysis, structured improvisation and choreography making tools, focused writing exercises and more.
