 Early Spring

Saturday February 8th 2-4pm

❤ FEBRUARY IS FOR FAN LOVE. ❤
BELLY DANCE FAN WORKSHOP, SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2020, 2-4 pm @ Ripley Grier Studios 939 8th Avenue (between 55 and 56th streets), Studio 3B, New York, NY. Studio to be announced or you can ask at the front desk. Fee: $45.
CLASS DESCRIPTION: Beautiful and romantic, the fan dance will carry you away to love, intrigue, yearning and untapped emotions useful to your dance art. Your thoughts are transported through the movement of the fan and extension of your arms, retracted and then suddenly given away at will. You will fall into the music so entirely that you will feel the story of the music is yours. Come expose your heart and soul to another level. Bring your own fans. Any type fan will do except fan veils. If you don’t have a fan, you can make one of cardboard or a large piece of sturdy craft paper. Don’t let not having one stop you from expanding your dance! Please PM Amira Iriz on FB or email danceamira@gmail.com to RSVP.

Sunday February 9th 11-12:30

This is really a chance for me to share how I maintain softness in as much of my body as possible in order to achieve an ethereal movement quality. When movements are "big" they are still executed softly. When the silk is still, there's still energy in my arms to create a particular line or drape. Stillness doesn't equal non-engagement. I also want to share how I prepare for turns...how I adjust my weight and center of gravity. I plan to geek out here and load up 90 minutes with all the nuance I can fit. What I'd really like is three hours of your time but...even then, I'd still want more of your time. 😁

Saturday February 22nd 5pm-6:30

Greenwood Lake Yoga
89 Windermere Ave, Greenwood Lake, New York 10925

Saturday, February 22nd at 5pm
w/ Andriel Hennessey-Hartwick

This workshop will introduce the fundimental steps inspired by Middle Eastern, Asian, and European dance techniques to name a few. I will also introduce some basic concepts you will need to begin dancing with this group based improvisational dance form. This something that you can do even if you've never danced before. The most important thing is having fun.

Andriel started belly dancing in 2008 with the amazing Aaliyah Jenny and it captured her heart immediately. Jenny pointed Andriel toward American Tribal Style and she couldn't get enough of it. Through self study and every workshop she could get to, she eventually made it to teacher training in order to share this amazing dance form with anyone inspired by it or just curious.
